The Nobel Prize in Medicine has been awarded to Harvey Alter, Michael Houghton, and Charles Rice for the discovery of the Hepatitis C virus – an enormous achievement and fantastic news to the hep C community! Thanks to their many years of hard work we now have rapid testing and drugs that can cure in as little as 8 weeks, saving millions of lives. This is particularly exciting news in a year where our work has been overshadowed by COVID-19. We’ve come a long way since this discovery was made, and we have a long way to go, but we’re doing it.
